Pablo Solón on Climate Change and The Rights of Nature

Former UN Ambassador for the Plurinational State of Bolivia, Pablo Solón spoke on Rights of Nature and the Politics of Climate Change at a Wolpe Memorial Lecture in the People’s Space during the UN Climate Conference in December 2011 in Durban, South Africa.

Pablo began with the explanation that “In the heart of the new society we want to create is the Rights of Nature, Rights of Mother Earth…”

Global Alliance members Cormac Cullinan, Nati Green, Shannon Biggs, Osprey Orielle Lake, Santi Lopez, Patricia Siemens, and Robin Milam all participated in this lecture. In the days leading up to and following the lecture, Pablo and the Global Alliance partnered in a series of lectures and events advocating Rights of Nature and the Universal Declaration for the Rights of Mother Earth in side events inside COP 17 and in the People’s Space outside COP 17.
