The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development scheduled for June 20 – 23, 2012 is also known as Rio+20 in recognition of the twentieth anniversary of the original Earth Summit in Rio de Janiero, Brazil in 1992.
A number of on-site side events sponsored by Governments, Major Groups, UN system and other Inter-Governmental Organizations will be organized during the
- 3rd Preparatory Committee Meeting of UNCSD (13 -15 June 2012),
- Four Days of Dialogue on Sustainable Development (16 -19 June 2012) and
- United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio+20 (20 -22 June 2012)
The on-site side events will take place inside RioCentro Convention Center and will be coordinated by the UNCSD Secretariat.
In addition, there will be opportunities for stakeholders to organize UNCSD-related activities outside RioCentro Convention Center (so called off-site events) in various venues in the City of Rio de Janeiro. More information regarding arrangements for off-site events will be available soon on the Rio+20 site.
